Supervised kid accounts now available in Türkiye and MENA
What this means for creators
Creators in Türkiye and MENA should be aware that supervised kid accounts disable personalized ad targeting and autoplay by default, and viewers cannot comment or create content from these accounts. Content eligible for the three age-appropriate tiers may reach a new segment of young viewers with stricter engagement constraints.
Supervised kid accounts are a new account type available to parents in Türkiye and MENA regions. Parents set up these accounts from the Family Center in YouTube settings. The accounts offer an age-appropriate environment within the main YouTube app, distinct from the standalone YouTube Kids app and the existing supervised teen accounts.
Parents can choose from three content settings aligned with international content ratings. Supervised kid accounts include a Shorts feed timer that lets parents set daily time limits for Shorts scrolling or disable it entirely. Built-in protections apply by default to all users under 18: Take a Break and Bedtime reminders, no ability to create content or write comments, no personalized ad targeting, and autoplay disabled.
Supervised kid accounts join supervised teen accounts, which are already available in the region and allow young people to explore most of YouTube with parental notifications and shared activity insights. YouTube Kids remains available as a standalone app with stricter content filtering and the ability to show only approved content.
