Creators can remix Shorts with Gemini Omni AI

What this means for creators

Creators aged 18 and older can now remix eligible Shorts using AI without technical editing skills. If a creator does not want their Shorts remixed, they can opt out of visual remix at any time.

Gemini Omni is available in YouTube Shorts Remix and the YouTube Create app. Creators can remix an eligible Short by adding prompts and images to create new versions, such as changing a scene to a 90s vibe or inserting themselves alongside another creator. The original video context remains intact during the remix process.

Remixed Shorts include digital watermarks, identifying metadata, and links back to the original video. Creators retain control and can opt out of visual remix at any time. Likeness detection, a tool that helps creators detect and manage their likeness, is expanding to all creators aged 18 and older.

Remixing with Omni is available today at no cost in YouTube Shorts Remix and the YouTube Create app. The feature is coming soon to AI Playground for additional creation options. The tool is designed to reduce the need for technical skills so creators can focus on their ideas.
