Auto dubbing available in 27 languages for creator reach
What this means for creators
Creators can enable auto dubbing once in YouTube Studio to reach viewers in 27 languages without ongoing effort. If a creator wants to optimize dubbing quality, speaking clearly and avoiding overlapping speech improves results, and creators retain the option to submit custom dubs or disable the feature.
Auto dubbing takes original video audio, translates it into new languages, and dubs it over the video so viewers can watch with the same cadence as the original. The feature is available in 27 languages, and eight of those languages offer Expressive Speech for more realistic sound quality.
Creators can enable auto dubbing in YouTube Studio and monitor performance across different languages using the audio track filter. Creators can also submit their own dubs, turn off auto dubbing entirely, or adjust video format (speaking clearly, avoiding overlapping speech, providing translated titles and descriptions) to improve dubbing quality. Auto dubbing has no negative impact on viewer discovery.
Viewers control which videos they experience in original audio and which receive auto dubbing through preferred language settings. On any video, viewers can use player settings to select a different audio track. YouTube is working to add new languages, expand Expressive Speech to more languages, and build tools for creators to adjust and improve applied dubs.
